How do we start the portrait process? We start with a vision in mind. Before creating any imagery, we need a plan for how the artwork will be displayed in your home. This planning results in a session that will create memorable portraits. Let's discuss your goals and how we will achieve them! Bring all your questions to our pre-consultation meeting in person or via phone. We will coordinate outfits with locations, whether in the studio or outdoors. The ordering appointment is where all the fun is! Your portraits are revealed, and you can make your final decisions on what images look best with a wall gallery or album.

How far in advance should I book a session?I recommend booking your session two to four weeks in advance. This timeframe allows us to discuss locations, outfits, and any questions you may have. It also gives you ample time to prepare, reducing stress and ensuring a fun and successful photoshoot.
-
How do I book a session? To book a session, a $100 non-refundable session retainer is required to hold the date and serves as a cancellation fee. This fee can be credited towards a future session. The remaining balance is due before the session date.
-
When can I expect my images?Headshot session images are ready the next day. For portrait sessions, it typically takes 5-7 business days, but this can vary depending on the time of year.
-
What happens if there is bad weather on the day of our session?I only shoot at a certain time of day to ensure you with the most flattering light for your session. If the weather is less than ideal, and depending on how bad the weather is, I will let you know either the day before or a few hours before our session if we need to reschedule. Or if you just do not feel comfortable shooting in a certain type of weather - we can always change the session date for that too! My goal is for your shoot to be as convenient and enjoyable as possible. There are no extra charges for rescheduling.
-
What if I need to reschedule our session?I completely understand that sometimes, life happens! So no worries if you need to reschedule. Whatever day works best for you, we will aim for that. Yes, you can reschedule your session once with at least 48 hours notice.
-
CancellationAny client who does not cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of the session will forfeit the $100 retainer and it will serve as a cancellation fee. As previously stated, the fee can be credited towards a future session if the client reschedules the appointment by calling 48 hours prior to the date of session and re-booking at an agreeable date and time. If we cannot perform this Contract due to fire or another casualty, strike, act of God, or other cause beyond the control of the parties, or due to Photographer’s illness or emergency, then the Photographer shall return the retainer fee to the Client but shall have no further liability with respect to the Contract. This limitation on liability shall also apply in the event that photographic materials are damaged in processing, lost through the camera or other media malfunction, lost in the mail, or otherwise lost or damaged without fault on the part of the Photographer. In the event Photographer fails to perform for any other reason, Portrait Deluxe Studio shall not be liable for any amount in excess of all monies paid.
-
Do you offer refunds?Due to the nature of photography, we do not offer refunds. However, we do offer a complimentary session if you are not satisfied with your final images from the original session.
-
What should we wear for the photoshoot? Here are some quick style tips: - Wear solid-colored clothing with texture. - Don't be afraid of bold colors. - Choose 2-4 colors for your group portrait that have similar tones and go well together. Mix and match these colors and consider adding one fun color to bring it all together. - Choose a top with sleeves at least to the elbow. - Opt for dark socks and footwear (unless it’s a barefoot photo on the beach). - Style your hair as you normally would while wearing these clothes. If getting a haircut or new hairdo, schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to your portrait session.
-
What types of pictures will we receive from our headshot session? We will take a handful of each, full body pictures, half body pictures and close up headshot pictures. We typically will have you smile, put your serious face on and make a more natural face for each type of pose that we do.

WHAT ABOUT NO SHOWSIf you are a no show for your appointment or attempt to cancel/reschedule within 48 hours you will unfortunately lose your session reservation booking deposit. I know “life happens” but I arrange my entire day and shuffle my schedule around to accommodate each booking. No shows are disruptive and take up time slots from other customers, so I have to be firm on this policy.
